The world’s undisputed global ambassador for dance music, Pete Tong once again hooks up with production partner Paul Rogers for another outing under the delectable Tong & Rogers moniker, this time with ‘Shake The Dice’. Having already attained support from Luciano, Dubfire, Uner, Nic Fanciulli, Joris Voorn and more, Tong & Rogers’ latest cut is tipped too to be another timeless underground mainstay destined to enthuse seasoned White-Isle enthusiasts. Rolling, hip-shaking and heavy on the percussion, this is on-trend Tech House at its most pure. Over on the remix tip and Italian producer Pirupa firmly imprints his own distinctive sound, with a big groovy bassline rolling out alongside supercool filterwork & meticulously produced percussion. Working in elements of funk, tech, and an array of other styles like only he knows how, this remix completes yet another Toolroom Records EP of pure undiluted House vibes crafted for the clubs. Fine-tuned to fulfil House aficionados worldwide, ‘Shake The Dice’ offers up some unmistakeable underground flavours courtesy of Tong & Rogers.

BBC Films has been in a unique partnership with FilmFour to produce four short films for the Cultural Olympiad. Each company has commissioned and co-funded two projects, and I’ve just done the score for one of them called “What if”.
“What If” is a rendering of Rudyard Kipling’s much loved poem If; the film tells the story of Joe, a young teen who learns, through an older, wiser boy, fundamental life lessons on nobility, patience and generosity; lessons on how to become an admirable young man. Influenced by Wim Wender’s Wings Of Desire, this film is a celebration of urban youth culture and London, starring Noel Clarke, George Sargeant and Theo Barklem-Biggs, showcasing the best of the UK’s freerunning, skateboarding, BMXing and in-line skating talent and featuring urban art by Matthew Small. The film is currently shooting on location in Swiss Cottage London, and is directed by Max Giwa and Dania Pasquini, and produced by James Richardson, Allan Niblo and Hubi Liel.
The film will be shown as part of the Cultural Olympiad on cinema screens next year, and subsequently broadcast on the BBC and Channel 4.
Just checking in and letting you all know what I’ve been up to! I’ve just finished writing a score with Mr Tong for a film called “What If”, directed by Max Giwa & Dania Pasquini. It’s based around the famous poem “IF” by Rudyard Kipling (1895). It’s directed back into our modern world of youth culture, crime (the london looting), positive and negative actions and the consequences. It will be on rotation around the time of the olympics on Film 4 and Channel 4 so make sure you tune in. It’s been a great project to be involved with and I’d like to say a massive thanks to everyone involved. Also want to name check Mr Stuart Roslyn for writing and scoring the amazing strings, you are a genius!
Well, it’s been a while since I last updated you all and theres lots to fill you in with, so here goes…
On the 16th March I will be playing at Sankeys alongside; Pete Tong, Thomas Gold, Juan Kidd, Ellesse and Dutch Rudder. If you’re around make sure you drop by, it should be a good one! Set time is 11pm – 1am. I’ve also been spending a lot of time studio with Tom Flynn on a heavy duty house track which will be coming your way soon. Working with him again next week so should have a couple of new things ready for April. I’ve just remixed Pete Tong’s track ‘Dawn’ which I co wrote with him and Cedric Gasaida who’s vocal features on the record. Cedric of course famous for the voice of “Hungary for the Power” by Azari & III. Keep your eyes open for this, due for a summer release. Also a new Tong & Rogers tune ‘Shake The Dice’ which, will feature on the ‘All Gone Miami’ compilation.
In other news, I’ve been writing music for a new movie which has a ‘Harry Brown’ vibe about it…all very exciting! Watch this space :) Got my dark side hat on today.
Until next time..
